Lots of things can get in the way of children getting the most out of school and Wirral schools are fully committed to spotting and dealing with any difficulties children are facing.
To do this, schools work closely with other organisations to identify children who have emotional, behavioural or health difficulties as early as possible.
They then work together to overcome the challenges and offer advice, support and guidance to prevent further problems.
Examples include:
- speech and language therapy
- child and adolescent mental health services
- intensive behaviour support
- counselling
All Wirral schools have systems for identifying pupils who need specialised help.
Our staff are trained to spot problems in the early stages, before they have become serious.
Pupils are given extra support during times of change in their lives; moving from nursery to primary school and from primary to secondary.
Many services are available within school, often as drop-in sessions, so older pupils know where and when they can find support if they need it.
