High quality childcare is a real positive! - It helps children learn, increases their confidence and encourages them to mix happily with other children.
At some stage, most families will need some form of childcare support.
Childcare enables parents to work, study or cope with family emergencies.
All of Wirral primary and special schools now offer, or signpost to high-quality,
Ofsted-registered childcare from 8am to 6pm, five days a week, 48 weeks a year.
Some secondary schools are also offering support.
The schools provide childcare in a number of ways:
- on the school site.
- by sharing another school’s facilities.
- by having information available for parents on the childcare, which is available in the local area.
Note:
Schools do need to charge for childcare, but parents may be able to claim the money back via their Working Tax Credit.
Find out more about Working Tax Credit via the government website - www.direct.gov.uk
